Nutrient Requirements in Fruit Trees: Sampling, Testing, and Interpretation

Nutrients deficiencies and excesses can directly reduce yields and fruit quality and are a threat to tree health.  Additionally, excesses, even when they do not have a negative effect on production, are a wasted economic input.  Nutrient deficiency visual symptoms can be similar for different nutrients and sometimes even similar to nutrient excess symptoms, therefore analytical testing is often the only way to confirm nutrients deficiency and excess.

Types of analytical testing:

  1. Leaf Tissue Analysis

  2. Fruit and Fruitlet Analysis

  3. Other Plant Tissue Analysis

  4. Soil Analysis
